Welcome to SEEMOUS 2015

Dear colleagues and students,

      We are pleased to inform you that the Mathematical Society of South-Eastern Europe is organizing the 9th Mathematical Olympiad for first and second year university students, SEEMOUS 2015. This prestigious student competition will be hosted by the Union of Mathematicians of Macedonia (UMM) between March 3 and March 8, 2015 in Ohrid. We kindly invite you to participate in SEEMOUS 2015 with a team from your university. The aim of this competition is to challenge and encourage mathematically gifted university students for further success, to create friendly relationships between them and to create opportunity for exchanging information among participating universities about mathematics syllabi in higher education.

      Regulations. A team may consist up to 6 students and 2 professors (a team leader and a deputy team leader). Eligible students are those who are not beyond the second university year of undergraduate studies by the end of the 2014/2015 academic year or have not completed more than 120 ETCS credits until March 3, 2015. Students can form a national team to represent a country as well. Registration form must be filled in as requested and should be sent until February 1, 2015 to seemous2015@gmail.com.       Problem proposals. Each team can send up to three problem proposals until February 1, 2015. Problem proposals must be written in English in MS Word document (doc or docx), with Times New Roman font, formulas in Equation or Math Type 6. PDF file of the document should be sent as well. Please send your problem proposals to: seemous2015@gmail.com.

      Participation fee information. All SEEMOUS participants will have to cover their own travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses. A participation fee to cover accommodation and subsistence is pre-paid to the UMM as approved by MASSEE. Detailed information about the participation fee and its payment will be sent in the second announcement within 30 days.

      Visa information. We advise you to start the visa obtaining activities as soon as possible. The visa application and all supporting documents are to be filed with the territorially competent diplomatic-consular mission.
